Mayo Rape Crisis Centre would like to invite everyone to join them in Mulroy’s Bar, Main Street, Castlebar on Friday October 26, at 6pm for the launch of Trish Reddington’s New York marathon fundraising challenge. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Trish Reddington from Keelogues, Castlebar, will be running in the New York City Marathon, the biggest race in the world, on November 4 to raise funds for Mayo Rape Crisis Centre. Trish, a former Mayo county footballer took up running while living in New York City. A member of New York Road Runners Club until she moved home in October 2011, Trish only began running in 2008. She has since completed six half marathons and two Olympic size New York City triathlons in 2009 and 2010, where she helped raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of New York City.

The Mayo Rape Crisis Centre (MRCC) welcomes the publication of the Review of Safeguarding Practices in dioceses prepared by Ian Elliot, in particular relating to the Tuam Diocese.

This year marks the 21st year of the global 16 Days of Action Opposing Violence against Women. Violence against women is an enormous problem in Ireland with thousands of women experiencing rape, physical assaults, emotional and financial abuse and many other forms of exploitation every day.

Mayo Rape Crisis Centre is now running a  fortnightly counselling service in Ballina and with this in mind two well respected musicians have offered a night of music in Paddy Jordan’s on March 5 at 8.30pm. Please support.

Westport’s finest will be cooking their favorite recipes on Wednesday December 3 at the Mill Times Hotel, Westport in aid of Mayo Rape Crisis Centre, Castlebar.

This week, on International Day Opposing Violence Against Women saw the start of a moving and thought-provoking exhibition, In Her Shoes, at the Ballina Family Resource Centre.
